Be Thou an Example

In all my travels as an Evangelist, serving over 235 churches in 5 years, it is my observation that contemporary Christian music is becoming more accepted and has become a tremendous problem. I find this article to be a revelation of this reality from a man who was himself a leader in this movement.

Among Independent King James Bible Believing Baptist churches across this country, you will find division, discord, and disagreement. This, I believe to a large extent, is a result of the Christian college quagmire that we find ourselves in today. Instead of teaching the Bible, they have become mass producers of someones pet peeve.

The number one thing killing children spiritually in Bible believing homes and churches is the anger of one or both parents.

Anger also destroys the spirit of oneness between a husband and wife.

The Bible has much to say on the subject of child discipline and correction, namely "spanking". Proverbs 13:24 says, "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes." The Lord really cuts to the chase on this subject, because of the tremendous impact it has on future generations, not to mention the happiness of the home.

1) We start by reading a chapter from Proverbs. If it is the 15th of the month, we will read the 15th chapter of Proverbs. There are ten readers among us right now, so the chapter is divided evenly among each person to read their portion. If the Lord impresses any of us to ask or comment on anything that we have read, then we will at this time.

A church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. “I’ve gone for 30 years now”, he wrote, “and in that time I have heard something like 3000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them.

A clothesline was a news forecast
To neighbors passing by.
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.

It also was a friendly link,
For neighbors always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.

For then you’d see the fancy sheets
And towels upon the line;
You’d see the company tablecloths
With intricate design.
